ah the weekend...

i'm not sure why i like the weekends so much. i mean i'm a sahm AND i homeschool so i'm home all week anyway! and usually my DH is working.

but not this weekend!! he was home and we actually got something done!! last week we had a ferocious wind storm. many, many branches got knocked out of the trees and have been laying in the back yard just yelling for a chainsaw to come and cut them up. so hubby pulled out his new toy and got to work!
now we have lots of firewood. unfortunately it's been soo warm here that i figure we won't get to have another fire this year. hubby says the groundhog lied. look - even the flowers and trees are blooming!!

on friday night we went to dinner at the church where monkey goes to pre-school. the boy scouts were having a fund raising valentines dinner. for $20 hubby and i got to have prime rib with salad, a side, dessert and coffee and best of all we got to have it with just the 2 of us!! candles and soft music. no kids at the table. i didn't have to cut up anything for anyone and didn't have to clean anything up!! AND they kept monkey and fed him spaghetti!! it was a great evening.

oh and big c went skiing with his youth group this weekend. we dropped him off on friday and we pick him up today. he called yesterday and said he was having a great time. can't wait to hear all about it. we missed him a lot but i think that monkey really enjoyed spending some time with mommy and daddy without big brother around!

this is how my monkey swings...

none of that back and forth nonsense for him. oh no it's side to side and spinning around that makes monkey happy!

So glad you guys got your date night!! was the food good, or did it even matter? hahah. i'm sure regardless of how it tasted, not having to cut someone else's food was the best part. and i bet monkey loved the pasketti.

such a cute swinger :)
miss you guys

actually the food was amazing!! the prime rib was outstanding and the salad was fancy. i thought it would be iceburg with a few cucumbers. but it was good lettuce and it had pine nuts!! and they brought around a dessert cart. michael had chocolate cheesecake and i had a slice of yummy lemon cake.

oh and mikey HATES pasta. so no he didn't enjoy it much. but they lady that was keeping the kids wanted to adopt him. she said he had them all laughing their butts off. he is such a card.

and just so everyone knows, Big C called me today to tell me about his trip. and let me tell you how polite this boy is. when he didnt hear/couldn't understand something i said he would say "I'm sorry, what was that?" or "I'm sorry, i was talking to mommy, could you say that again?" instead of the normal "HUH?" or "WHAT?" that you get from kids today. it was great. i was so proud of his phone manners :)

You have daffodils! Yay! I can't wait until I do, too. Soon. Very soon.

I thought you were SUPPOSED to swing side to side. That way you get to crash into other swingers, right?

I always look forward to the weekend too! I guess it's a habit built of a lifetime of school and work. Plus, having kids and hubby home is always great.

I like spinning! I taught Sophie that same move many many months ago when the winds of winter where a mere thought.......
Love your date night out! I am looking forward to one tomorrow for lunch, but not quite as nice as prime rib---yummy!
Anytime you yearn for a fire hop on into Chicago for a nice little awakening. We chicagoans know how to make anyone cold! My fire is lit right now as a matter of fact.
oh, I tagged you too!
Have a great night, and I'm glad you had a great weekend. Your little monkey is adorable!!!!!!

I am sooo jealous that it looks so springlike in those pictures. Winter in Toronto has been unforgiving this year...
