happy halloween part 1

wow!! it's only 3:00 and it has been a great halloween already! got up and took big c to school per usual then it was time for monkey's fall party!! i got to go a little early and hang out in his class room. it's always so fun to see how your child plays with other kids that you don't know. he really is a good friend. and i got to chat with his teacher who is i really like. about 10 we headed outside for the fun. the school rented a bouncy house and a train and they set up a game station, a bubble station and a face painting station (which monkey was totally afraid of. weird). they also had a popcorn machine. everyone took turns with everything but all monkey wanted to do was jump in the bouncy house! he loves those things. the mom of one of the boys in his class and i went to high school together so we talked a lot. which was very nice. and i got to meet some of the other moms. one of the teachers went and got chicken nuggets from wendy's and we all ate lunch outside at the picnic tables. the weather was perfect! then we gathered up all the goodie bags and headed off to big c's school.

now they got out early and since i am not quite good enough to be in 2 places at one time, my friend deb got big c for me. it also happened to be the day they were celebrating her daughter amelia's birthday in preschool. so we trotted ourselves over there to help her celebrate that! (btw monkey and amelia are betrothed.) and after that deb had a conference for jeremy so i took the rest of her kids and mine and headed out to the playground to wait. all the afterschool kids were outside so it was a fun time for all!

and i got to get big c's report card. he made all A's and 1 B. i am so proud of him. first year of middle school and he did that well!

now i have a pot of potato/corn chowder on the stove and loaf of bread in the oven. that is our standard halloween eve meal. pretty soon it will be time to get into costume...

Pumpkins!!

after the ceiling disaster we finally got to carve out some time to work on our pumpkins. (get it? carve out some time! :D)

monkey hates the innards of a pumpkin so we always get a pix of him grossing out.

his pumpkin is always easy to carve. anything scary is fine with him. big c is another story. he cut the top off and cleaned it out and left it for 2 days before he could decide what he wanted to put on it. we were watching Hook last night and that set off his creative juices. so he went for a hook. turned out pretty good, don't you think!

oh and notice that cassidy had to get involved. looks like the pumpkin is eating her.

i live in the south. (NC to be exact) if you have been paying attention we have had NO rain since june. we are about 18 inches below normal. and are on water restrictions etc. well it rained last week. and no one could talk about anything else. we were so happy. until i saw something on the ceiling in my living room. yep. the roof was leaking.

so i called my DH (who happens to be a builder) and told him what was going on. he tells me to go up into the attic and see what i could see. well i could see nothing. he gets home and crawls up there and i hear "expletive!!!". great. yes we had a leak. and the insulation and the drywall were soaked. he sopped up what he could and then got this gleam in his eye. i think i can get the ceiling to not bow out from the water. he says. here lets try this. and i had to live with this in my living room all weekend. pain in the @** let me tell you.

i'm so blog OCD that i won something!! i was checking hotmama's blog to see what cool and interesting things she had posted lately and a short while later i got a comment from her. i was her 2000th visitor and she had a prize for me!!! yipee!! gotta love prizes! i could not wait to see what she was sending me. it came today!! sooooo cute!! it's me! :) don't you love it? don't you wish you had won??!!

fun fun fun!

tomorrow is the fall fest at big c's school. i love those things. cheesy games with candy for prizes, bouncy houses, BBQ, bake sale and a cake walk!! there may even be a petting zoo and pony rides. the middle schoolers will work the BBQ and concession stand so big c will have something to do but for the first time EVER i am not signed up for anything. i helped with the silent auction stuff and will go early and help set up and stay to break down but i don't have a time scheduled to help somewhere. i'm stoked!! that never happens. i'm sure i will end up doing something but it's nice to know i can be free the whole day! it's supposed to be beautiful weather. 78 and breezy. YIPEE!! can't wait!!

nothing

i should blog more. but when there is nothing going on i have nothing to blog about!

monkey has a fever so he stayed home from school today. i hate that. my kids don't get sick. really. (thank you Lord!) and it's just a fever nothing else. but i can't send him to school. so my whole day is shot. not that i was going to do much but i did get the info for the new contract i'm going to work on. and i was going to start today. bust.

it is still soooo hot here!! we broke a record yesterday. 93. in october! i am so tired of wearing shorts. i'm ready to break out my denim jacket. i'm so ready for cold weather that i made a pot of red lentil soup this morning. i crave that stuff!!

big c is staring in a skit for the elementary kids in chapel today. he is going to be the kids that gets picked on and by the end everyone likes him. i really wanted to sneak in the back and see him. but i can't go if monkey still has a fever. big c was so excited. that boy is destined to be famous!

we have been waiting for it to cool down to put up our halloween decorations. it's hard to get pumped about it when we have the a/c on! one thing i like about decorating for halloween is that i don't have to dust!! it just makes it look more scary! (good excuse huh!)

and did you all know that i sing in a band? (don't know if i have mentioned that before) check us out trewth

if you click on alive and for you, that's me singing. we recorded those in the studio and tim did the rest in his band room so they are just him singing but i do sing on all of those. we have a heavy schedule coming up. very exciting. maybe i will get some video this friday night when we play and i'll post it.

monkey has decided he wants to be Woody for halloween. great! i have all the stuff for that. not sure if Big C is going to want to dress up but i had better be ready. it's hard for an 11 year old to pick something.

boring

i'm bored. no work. kids at school. house clean. (well as clean as it's going to get) no good books. i need to work on my bible studies but can't seem to buckle down and do it. i hate daytime tv so that's out. i already took a shower so i can't go for a walk because i will get sweaty. it's going to be 87 here today! what is up with that. it's october and i'm going to have to turn my a/c back on. that sucks.




i guess i will go play my guitar.
