copperfield

i finally finished david copperfield. that is one lonnnnnggggg book. but i LOVED it!! no wonder it's a classic. such great characters. you just want to beat the crap out of uriah heep. *shudder* i always wonder why people hesitate to read a big book. or anything by dickens for that matter. everytime i read something by him i'm just in awe. what great lessons he teaches.

so now i'm going to read something a little lighter. if you have not read the yada-yada prayer group books, i HIGHLY recommend them. they are great books about women of all cultures coming together to pray for each other. my bookclub loves reading them because they make such great discussion. this one will be read much faster!!

im one of those people afraid to read the 'big books'.... i think im just afraid they'll be really boring. probably bc we were always forced to read the 'classics' in school. maybe one day.

I can read big books but I have to say I haven't read any Dicken's books, I need to start reading some of the classics.

Kay, I wish I loved to read the way you do. I know it's educational and entertaining. I am glad you found the Dicken's book you so enjoyed reading. The way you love to read I'm sure you will fine many more books to enjoy.

I agree! I love David Copperfield.

Remember the band Uriah Heep (sp?)?

I never knew they snagged their name from a book -- now I do. Bring on the trivial pursuit!

Kim kinda beat me to it. I always thought Uriah Heap was a band not a Copperfield character! :(

Okay, you are my new literary hero. My attention span is so short lately (my kids are rubbing off on me I think) I could never get through Dickens.

If you haven't read it, you might like The Persian Pickle Club by Sandra Dallas. It's a great discussion book about a group of women coming together.

I just finished Zorro by Isabel Allende - Awesome and well worth reading, although not quite the classic that David Copperfield is. I may try to catch that on TCM one of these days.
